When meeting with the Togolese, we realized that when the missionaries leave Togo and the other countries for retirement and new country assignment, there will be nobody to share what God is doing in French-speaking West Africa. Part of our partnership with the Togolese is to provide a website on our server to promote the needs in that country as well as to make known what God is doing through our Baptist work there.
After speaking with the Togolese, I met with Jeff Singerman, who is an IMB missionary liaison to the French-speaking countries. This is one project that really excited him. He was hopeful that we could include the other French-speaking West African countries. We agreed that when we set up the site for Togo, that the front page would be inclusive of francophone West Africa, and that other people can be responsible for the other individual country web pages.
For now, our association would be responsible for Togo's website only, but the project would be designed so that other countries could be added to the same site. That is the reason we chose West Africa ministries as opposed to Togo ministries.
